Is Your Marriage Missing Its Spark? Here’s How to Reignite the Passion

Over time, it’s easy for a marriage to slip into routine and monotony. The excitement that once defined your relationship can fade, replaced by predictability and comfort. If you’re feeling like the spark is gone, you’re not alone. One of the most common complaints from couples is that the passion seems to have disappeared.

But does it have to be this way? Are we doomed to a passionless marriage as the years go by?

I believe the answer is no. In fact, your marriage is as passionate as you choose to make it. While it’s natural for the initial intensity of a relationship to mellow over time, there are plenty of ways to reignite the flame.

Today, I want to highlight one simple but powerful tip to help reignite a flame:

Have the Same Bedtime for Nighttime Sharing

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to get caught up in distractions—TV shows, emails, social media, and everything else that pulls you away from your partner. But making time for each other at the end of the day can have a huge impact on your connection.

Shut off the outside world. Block out the distractions. When possible, go to bed at the same time. This doesn’t just mean sleeping in the same bed—it’s about creating a space for meaningful conversation and physical closeness.

Take a few minutes to talk about your day. Share your thoughts, worries, hopes, and dreams. Use this time to reconnect, as friends and as partners. It’s in these small moments of intimacy that passion can begin to grow again.

This is just one way to begin “re-sparking” your marriage. For more ideas, check out another article we have that outlines 6 more ways to spark the flame. Passion doesn’t have to be a thing of the past. With some intentionality, you can bring it back—one spark at a time.
