It’s that time of the year again. Time to get together with family, enjoy some good food, reflect and be thankful. But before you get caught up in the holiday rush, here a few reasons why you should make gratitude part of your everyday married life.

Keeps you positive

Being thankful keeps you positive and optimistic. It’s hard not to be when you’re constantly looking for reasons to be thankful and choosing not to focus on the negative. It creates a positive atmosphere and makes you feel like everything is possible.

It’s  attractive

Thankfulness and positivity is attractive. It’s a lot easier to fall in love with a positive person as opposed to someone who is bitter or a complainer. It’s also a lot easier to enjoy the journey that is married life when your spouse doesn’t take life too seriously.

It’s good for communication in marriage

Showing gratitude to each other is a great way to open up the lines of communication. This is especially true when you are trying to have a difficult conversation with your spouse but you still want to keep it somewhat positive.

It’s good for Intimacy in marriage

Showing appreciation to each other brings you closer together and improves both emotional and physical intimacy in your marriage. It helps you create a strong bond to carry you through the hard times. With regard to physical intimacy, appreciating each other takes the pressure out of intimacy.

It sets a good example

When you’re really positive and thankful, it’s very hard for other people to be negative around you.  So by being grateful, you can set the tone for your spouse and the rest of your family.

This marriage advice doesn’t only apply during the holidays. Being grateful all the time makes for a happy marriage and married life.
