Trust issues are a major cause of lack of trust in a relationship. They hinder a people’s ability to be vulnerable with each their spouses and to give their all to their marriages. Unfortunately, many people who have trust issues are either unaware or unwilling to admit that they have them.

Snooping

People who have trust issues have a hard time respecting their partners’ privacy. They go through their partners’ phones, wallets or handbags and computers regularly in an attempt to find something to justify their lack of trust. When there is trust in a relationship, both parties are able to bring up their concerns to each other instead of snooping.

Thinking of worst-case scenarios

People with trust issues have a tendency to think of worst-case scenarios. For instance, if they call their partner and the call goes unanswered, they may start thinking that their partner is being unfaithful. However, when there is trust in a relationship, spouses are able to give each other the benefit of the doubt – no matter how bad a situation looks.

Jealousy

Jealousy is another sign of lack of trust and trust issues. People who do not trust their partners are territorial and suspicious of everyone. They keep their partners on a tight leash and are opposed to their partners having friends of the opposite sex. They do not trust their partners can control themselves in the face of temptation.

Testing your spouse

People who do not trust their partners feel the need to create chaos and marital problems in order to justify their lack of trust. They require constant assurance that their partners love them and one way to get this assurance is by testing their partners’ love. If the spouse fails the test, the person with trust issues takes it a sign that their spouse is not to be trusted.

Hiding aspects of yourself from your spouse

One major reason why people hide things from their partners is because they do not trust them. They do not feel that they can be physically and emotionally vulnerable with their spouses so they hide some aspects of themselves from them. They may hide insignificant things such as bodily functions or bigger things such as their political views.

Lack of trust in a relationship can manifest itself in many subtle ways. If you know the signs, you can catch it early and start looking for ways and tips on how to build trust in a relationship.
