Marriage is a spiritual relationship. So, it stands to reason that a marriage is healthiest and strongest when two people who are connected individually to God make prayer a part of their relationship.

Sadly, many couples underestimate the power of prayer in their marriages. They don’t think to ask God to intervene in their marriage problems until after things have gotten really bad.

Why is Prayer so Important?

Marriage is God’s design, and Satan is constantly working to shine an unfavorable light on marriage. His goal is to destroy belief in Christian marriage and in God.

What does this mean for you and your marriage? It means that your marriage is of greater spiritual significance and bigger than you or your spouse.

How to Pray for Your Marriage

For starters, pray both as individuals and a couple. Pray for strength, wisdom, discernment and protection over your spouse and family. Ask God to help you to see your partner as he sees him or her.

Additionally, ask God for the strength to endure the ups and downs of marriage and to hold for as long as you shall live. Pray that God give you the patience to wait on him even in the midst of trials and tribulations.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to find the right words for prayer, especially when your marriage is in turmoil. The bible can come in very handy during such times.

The bible is full of promises for you and your marriage. All you need to do is find scriptures that are relevant to your current situation and claim those promises in your prayer. This is referred to as praying God’s word.

Many people know that praying for their spouses and marriages is a good idea but they have yet to take the next step and actually do it. This article provides a simple guide on how to pray for a happy, healthy and lasting Christian marriage.
