Relationship Tips For A Happy Marriage Part 7: Revisit The Past

On July 3, 2013, Posted by , In All Posts,Happy Marriage, With No Comments

This week’s relationship tip for a happy marriage is short and simple – but it should be really, really fun for you and your spouse: Renew Old Traditions.

Renew Old Traditions
Think back to when you first started dating – or to earlier times in your marriage – what were some of your favorite traditions?

Was it a special meal on a certain day or night of the week?

Was it a favorite fun thing you did when either of you wanted to celebrate a success of some kind?

Did you have a special place you traveled to – just the two of you – where you were completely relaxed, and just enjoyed being with each other?

Was there a time when you attended church or a faith community regularly together?

What were some of the old traditions that you once did that were special and meaningful and fun that you no longer do? Take a moment and list two or three.

Now let me ask you another question: Why did you stop doing them? And what’s keeping you from doing them again? (Okay, that was two questions.)

Your Assignment
Choose something that you AND your spouse used to love doing – a special tradition of some kind. And make plans today to renew it. Adapt it if you have to, but reintegrate it back into your life and start living again because life is something to be celebrated and enjoyed and not just to be survived or endured.
