When was the last time that you and your spouse had a night of passion?

Maintaining a passionate and healthy relationship takes a lot of hard work and commitment. Passion and intimacy, like effective communication, are crucial aspects of a marriage. They allow couples to express their deepest emotions, feelings and desires for one another.

When you have been married for a long time, passion begins to dwindle and you have to work even harder to keep it alive. Here are a few tips on how you can do just that.

Say It

Wouldn’t it be great if married couples could read each other’s mind? Sadly, this is not the case. If you want to have a night of passion with your partner, let them know about it. Passion cannot exist without communication. Actions may speak louder than words but words lead to actions.

Begin setting the mood for a passionate night during breakfast by complimenting your partner on how they look and letting them know how much you appreciate them. Try and avoid criticism unless it is really necessary – in which case you should keep it constructive.   You want your partner to look forward to coming home to you in the evening.

Cultivate an Emotional Connection

In a good relationship, intimacy and passion cannot be separated from emotions. When two people are emotionally connected, making love becomes less about technique and more about their feelings. Begin cultivating an emotional connection with your partneras soon as you wake up in the morning. Hug them tightly and give them a light kiss before leaving for work. Your partner will remember it in the evening and it just might put him or her in the mood for an unforgettable night of passion.

Surprise!

When did you last surprise your spouse with a wonderful candle-lit dinner or a reservation at a nice hotel?  Taking a break from the norm can create the right mood for a night of intimacy.

The surprise doesn’t have to be overly elaborate; it’s the thought that counts. If your partner has been busy all day and he or she comes home exhausted. Offer him or her a full body massage just to show how much you care about them. Alternatively, prepare a warm bubble bath for them with soft music.

If you are able to plan an elaborate surprise, consider taking your partner on a surprise vacation. Although there is a chance that you might catch your partner off guard, it is worth a try.

Going by the above relationship advice and tips, it is clear that having regular nights of passion within a healthy relationship is achievable. Simply work on your emotional connection with your partner and intimacy will follow. Try any of these three tips today and enjoy a night of passion with your partner.
